If you’re a go-getter in your field—whether you create, repair, refine, or produce—you know that having the right tools for the job can give you the confidence you need to try and do more. Reliable, high-performing gear can help you file the challenges of leveling up and scaling up under “opportunity” instead of “anxiety.” That blend of capability and confidence has the potential to boost the output of entire teams—and the long-term outlook for your business. It starts with investing in the right gear, from the fleet-PC level on up. Modern business PCs often face the demands of multiple simultaneous CPU-, GPU-, or neural processor unit (NPU)-intensive tasks—including AI. Now more than ever, it’s vital for IT decision makers to make fleet investment decisions with real-world performance data in mind.
To provide the kinds of objective insights that can help inform successful fleet refresh cycles, we tested three AI PCs: an HP ProBook 4 G1a 14-inch Notebook AI PC powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 250 processor and Dell Pro 14 and Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 6 laptops—both powered by Intel Core Ultra 7 255U processors. Each laptop’s processor also included an NPU for AI-related tasks. To gauge each system’s real-world performance, we used a range of demanding general performance, multitasking, and battery life benchmarks.
In our tests, the AMD-powered HP ProBook 4 G1a achieved higher overall system and multi-core performance scores than the Intel-powered Dell Pro 14 and Lenovo ThinkPad L14—including a 46 percent advantage in one everyday productivity workload and a 33 percent win in one 3D rendering workload. The ProBook 4 also provided over nine hours of battery life, which was up to 1 hour and 23 minutes longer than the nearest competitor laptop.
With higher benchmark scores, better performance in demanding workloads, and better battery life, the AMD Ryzen 7 250 processor-powered HP ProBook 4 G1a may be a strong choice for businesses that want to provide their teams with confidence in their tools and a serious competitive edge in 2026.
