As the AI revolution continues to accelerate, the extent and rate of ongoing marketplace change across major industries is truly unprecedented—and the revolution is just getting started. To stay competitive, many firms are facing the challenges of onboarding new technologies, revamping workflows, and revving innovation cycles at a pace they wouldn’t have imagined just a few years ago. For IT administrators managing PC fleets amidst constant pressure for new levels of efficiency, it’s no time to rely on the status quo. You need state-of-the-art PC fleet management tools that let you do more—and do it faster. For many companies, a modern, cloud-based PC management solution can increase admin capabilities while streamlining a slew of routine processes. The key is to choose the right solution.
We conducted a series of hands-on comparisons of cloud-based endpoint management solutions from leading vendors, including Dell Management Portal paired with Microsoft Intune and solutions from HP Connect and Lenovo Device Orchestration. With each solution, we quantified the time and number of steps it took to complete common PC fleet management tasks such as accessing fleet information and deploying enterprise apps. We also documented the features that each solution offers to simplify administration tasks, such as BIOS configuration and deployment, pushing driver updates, and managing security.
We found that Dell Management Portal together with Microsoft Intune offered the most intuitive, feature-rich way to simplify routine fleet management tasks. When compared to manual workflows, Dell Management Portal and Microsoft Intune reduced the time to gather vital PC information by as much as 68 percent. Accessing fleet information with Dell Management Portal and Microsoft Intune was also 80 percent faster than using Lenovo Device Orchestration. In addition, when we assessed each solution’s set of management features, we found that Dell Management Portal offered more monitoring, app deployment, and firmware/driver update capabilities within an Intune environment than HP Connect.
Across large PC fleets, these time savings with common administration tasks could significantly reduce staff hours and accelerate the process of large laptop deployments—allowing users to get up and running on their new devices sooner. If IT teams can complete the same routine management tasks in less time, they can spend more time focusing on critical strategic initiatives such as AI integration—putting businesses in a better position to successfully adapt to rapid change.
