Whether you’re an independent content creator, an engineer, a simulation modeler, or working every day with compute-intensive applications, you know that success in data-rich, demanding environments often depends on having capable tools at hand. For power users that thrive at the intersection of innovation and technology, latest-generation PCs can serve as turbochargers for productivity. Strategic laptop upgrades can translate to shorter iteration cycles, more game-changing insights, and a clearer runway for transformational projects.

To measure how much of an impact laptop upgrades can make when working with real-world power applications, we compared the performance of three latest-generation 16-inch Dell Pro Max laptops to three equivalent previous-gen Dell Precision mobile workstations in CAD, simulation, and creative production workflows. We also compared two configurations of a Dell Pro Max 14 laptop to two configurations of a Dell Pro 14 Plus laptop in a power user workflow. We designed that comparison to assess whether power user workflows that do not need a discrete GPU can benefit from the additional resource capabilities of a well-equipped mobile workstation.

In our testing across multiple workloads, the new Dell Pro Max laptops demonstrated clear performance advantages over the previous-gen Dell Precision and new Dell Pro Plus models in compute-heavy tasks. The advantages over the older Precision laptops included a 25 percent time savings in 3D model rendering, 66 percent less time importing a CATIA file, and 49 percent less time generating Adobe Premiere Pro video previews. The Pro Max's performance edge over the Pro Plus included more than two hours saved when compiling the Unreal Engine 5 source code.

The performance advantages and time savings we saw with the Dell Pro Max across multiple demanding workflows can help reduce costly delays, accelerate concept-to-production cycles, and free your team’s time and effort for new ventures. With those and other potential benefits, a decision to upgrade to Dell Pro Max laptops may be an operational and investment strategy that pays off both now and for years to come.
