Decision support system (DSS) workloads are critical for analyzing raw information and delivering business insights that organizations can act upon. Time is of the essence when generating these types of business insights: data is often more valuable when it is recent.

Two of our latest studies focused on testing DSS workload performance. In one study, we compared new Microsoft Azure Edsv5-series VMs featuring 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors to Edsv4-series VMs featuring older Intel processors. In another study, we compared two types of Amazon EC2 cloud instances featuring different generation processors: R6i instances featuring 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors vs. R5n instances featuring 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors. In both studies, the VMs/cloud instances featuring 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor delivered better performance.
