In today’s high-speed, globally competitive economy, creativity is often a key element of success—and creativity can take many forms. Whether innovation manifests as standout content, game-changing data analysis, or a technical breakthrough, many of the inventive professionals that help businesses adapt and thrive in rapidly changing environments make it happen while working in non-traditional spaces. For those workers, the ability to run resource-intensive workloads on the go can help energize creative flows, so a powerful mobile workstation with long battery life and a comfortable user experience is a must. With many options on the market, professionals shopping for a mobile workstation want confidence that they’re purchasing a blend of system performance, uptime, and user experience that can help them reach new levels of productivity.

In two separate studies, we used hands-on tests and a variety of industry-standard benchmarks to measure the system performance, battery life, and heat output under load of comparable HP and Dell mobile workstations. In the first study, we compared an HP ZBook Power G10 A Mobile Workstation powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor to a Dell Precision 3581 Workstation powered by an Intel Core i7-13800H vPro processor. In the second study, we compared an HP ZBook Firefly 14 G10 A Mobile Workstation powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 7840HS processor to a Dell Precision 3480 Workstation powered by an Intel Core i7-1370P vPro processor. In most of the graphics, video editing, and gaming performance benchmarks we ran, the AMD-powered HP ZBook Power G10 and Firefly 14 G10 workstations outperformed the Intel-powered Dell Precision workstations. In addition, our results show that both HP systems delivered longer battery life and ran cooler under sustained workloads than the Dell systems we tested, while also achieving higher performance scores.

Our studies show that the HP ZBook Power G10 A and ZBook Firefly 14 G10 A Mobile Workstations—powered by AMD processors—offer levels of system performance, battery life, and user comfort that can help creative and technical professionals power through demanding workloads on the go.
