HDXPRT, the High Definition Experience & Performance Ratings Test, is a program designed to assess how well a PC can handle everyday media tasks, like photo editing, video conversion, and music editing, while using common consumer programs. The HDXPRT 2014 setup process takes about 10 minutes on most computers, and a standard test run takes approximately an hour and a half. After you finish testing, it presents results that are relevant and easy to understand.
HDXPRT 2014 is part of the larger BenchmarkXPRT family of tools, or XPRTs, a set of apps that help you learn how all kinds of devices perform. In the tech biz, many people refer to these tools as “benchmarks.” The XPRTs test a wide range of devices on a level playing field, which means you can be sure you’re getting unbiased, fair information. We encourage you to explore all the tools at BenchmarkXPRT.com.
HDXPRT 2014 runs a series of three tests, or scenarios, designed to assess how well a Windows 8.1 system handles real-world media tasks while using common consumer programs. The three scenarios are editing photos, converting videos, and editing music. HDXPRT produces scores for each scenario based on how long it took to complete the tasks, as well as an overall score. You can compare each of the scenario scores and the overall score to scores from other systems.
First, make sure your system is running Windows 8.1.
Then download the HDXPRT 2014 zip file from HDXPRT.com. The compressed file is about 4.8 GB, so the download may take several minutes.
Extract the files to the Program Files (x86) directory on your system. The User Manual, located at C:\Program Files 9x86)\HDXPRT\Docs, contains detailed installation, system configuration, and testing instructions.
