Tests of servers using Intel’s new X5570 processor
Intel commissioned PT to conduct a series of tests of servers with their Xeon processor X5570 vs. servers with other Intel and AMD processors shipping at the time of the tests.
Virtualized OLTP performance and power consumption test on multiprocessor Intel- and AMD-based servers We tested servers with the following three processors: AMD Opteron 2384, Intel Xeon X5570, and Intel Xeon E5450. We used Microsoft SQL Server with the DVD Store Version 2 test tool, an open-source simulation of an online e-commerce DVD store. For virtualization, we used Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V.
Virtualized Exchange performance and power consumption on multiprocessor Intel- and AMD-based servers We tested servers with the following three processors: AMD Opteron 2384, Intel Xeon X5570, and Intel Xeon E5450. We used Microsoft Exchange Load Simulator (LoadSim), a Microsoft-provided tool for benchmarking an Exchange Mail Server. For virtualization, we used Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V.
