Business PC Performance: Two built-to-order systems We ran BAPCo’s SYSmark 2004 SE and a set of custom tests on two built-to-order HP Microtower Business PCs.

PC configuration affects Skype Internet phone quality We studied the audio quality of VOIP calls on a dual-core Pentium 4 processor system with that on another Pentium 4 processor system. In our scenario, the user worked on two Microsoft Office 2003 programs and participated in a Skype conference call at the same time that a virus scan ran in the backround.

We tested the effect of HT Technology on system performance using common enterprise scenarios involving real-time communication and collaboration with Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 and other common office applications on three Intel processor/platform combinations.

Dual-core system performance in common business scenarios We tested the performance of a range of common business scenarios involving well-known applications and common business functions on three processor/platform combinations.

Dual-Core PC Performance: Two built-to-order systems We ran Futuremark's PCMark05 and 3DMark05 and BAPCo’s SYSmark 2004 SE along with a range of digital media performance tests on two built-to-order Hewlett Packard PCs with dual-core processors as they came out of the box.

Performance of the SunGard Adaptiv Credit Risk application on Intel- and AMD-based platforms The SunGard Adaptiv Credit Risk (ACR) workload analyzes a large portfolio of client assets and generates a credit risk evaluation. We used SunGard to evaluate the performance and power consumption of servers using the following processors: Intel Xeon 3.60 GHz with Hyper-Threading Technology and AMD Opteron 2.6 GHz.

CPU performance: Four built-to-order systems We investigated the performance of four built-to-order PCs, two using Intel Celeron on Intel D845GLVA motherboards and two using AMD Sempron on ECS KM400-M2 motherboards. We ran SYSmark 2004, WebMark 2004, the PCMark04 CPU test, and several  SiSoft Sandra 2005 tests.

Media Center PC Performance: Two built-to-order systems We ran a set of benchmarks andperformance tests on two built-to-order PCs as they came out of the box to assess how well each would serve as a media center in a home office or bedroom.
