Dell ImageDirect vs. Symantec Norton Ghost 11.5 time savings evaluation We evaluated the time savings an IT organization might realize by using Dell’s online ImageDirect image creation process instead of Symantec’s Norton Ghost 11.5. We measured the time savings on four different system configurations: Dell Latitude E5400 notebook, Dell Latitude E6400 notebook, Dell OptiPlex 780 desktop, and Dell Precision T1500 desktop.

Servers: Making the 32-bit to 64-bit transition Using the Microsoft tools and Dell servers that help make the transition to 64-bit computing easy, we performed a hands-on migration of three existing servers: an Active Directory domain controller, a server running Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and a server running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.
Performance: 32-bit to 64-bit transition We used Microsoft virtualization technologies to consolidate three legacy servers, running Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Exchange, to virtual machines on a single Dell PowerEdge R710. We measured the performance of each workload on the 32-bit servers and then performed a physical-to-virtual (P2V) migration of all three to a single 64-bit Dell PowerEdge R710.
